Simulation on seismogenic environment of strong earthquakes in Sichuan-Yunnan region, China

چکیده
Based on 43 Harvard CMT solutions in Yunnan region, GPS observations from 1999 to 2004 by China Crustal Movement Observatory Network, and results from SKS splitting and Pn fast wave anisotropy, we obtained the average directions of principle stress fields at different depths by average angle method. Then we further analyzed the coupling difference between geodynamic parameters in different tectonic blocks. Then we built five three-dimensional finite element models to simulate the crustal velocity field in SichuanYunnan region and stratified stress–strain fields in different tectonic blocks. In order to implement the numerical simulation, we constrained the FEA model boundaries with GPS observations, and determined the possible flow patterns at the top of upper mantle by SKS anisotropic splitting data. Based on the simulated kinematic pattern and stress–strain fields, we analyzed the geodynamic environment in the deep part of the area, and found that the difference between lateral stress fields in different tectonic blocks is the main reason why the boundaries of tectonic blocks and their neighborhood are so active areas and capable of generating strong earthquakes. Characteristics of strong ground motions in the 2014 Ms 6.5 Ludian earthquake, Yunnan, China
The 2014 Ms 6.5 (Mw6.1) Ludian earthquake occurred in the eastern Sichuan-Yunnan border region of western China. This earthquake caused much more severe engineering damage than the usual earthquakes with the same magnitude in China. The National Strong Motion Network obtained large set of ground motion recordings during the earthquake. To investigate the engineering interested characteristics o...

China has experienced major earthquakes recently. The 2014 Ludian earthquake struck Ludian County, Yunnan, (Mw =6.1) on 3 August, 2014. On April 20th 2013, Ya’an earthquake (Mw =6.9), on April 14th 2010, Qinghai earthquake (Mw =7.1), on July 9th 2009, Yunnan earthquake (Mw =6.0), and on May 12th 2008, Sichuan earthquake (Mw =7.9) struck China. Among these disasters, the most devastating, the Si...
متن کاملDistribution of the Crustal Magnetic Field in Sichuan-Yunnan Region, Southwest China
Based on the new and higher degree geomagnetic model NGDC-720-V3, we have investigated the spatial distribution, the altitude decay characteristics of the crustal magnetic anomaly, the contributions from different wavelength bands to the anomaly, and the relationship among the anomaly, the geological structure, and the geophysical field in Sichuan-Yunnan region of China. It is noted that the mo...
متن کاملEnhancement of Soluble Expression and Biochemical Characterization of Two Epoxide Hydrolases from Bacillus
Background: Enantiopure epoxides are important intermediates in the synthesis of high-value chiral chemicals. Epoxide hydrolases have been exploited in biocatalysis for kinetic resolution of racemic epoxides to produce enantiopure epoxides and vicinal diols. It is necessary to obtain sufficient stable epoxide hydrolases with high enantioselectivity to meet the requirements of i...

Precise zonation of the territory of China has been performed based on the active known faults, type of faulting and seismicity level. One hundred and forty seven seismogenic regions were de®ned, forming 10 larger seismic areas, and the seismotectonic characteristics in each one of them were investigated in detail. After checking for data accuracy and completeness of the shallow earthquakes (h ...
